Cairns Marine provides retail outlets and international wholesalers with a bewildering array of smaller fish, corals and invertebrates. And we provide public aquaria with a complete stocking service for large animals including sharks, rays and the enigmatic freshwater sawfish. We collect roughly 600 species of fish; 200 species of coral; 100 species of invertebrates; and a growing range of sharks, rays and eels.
Cairns Marine operates two fully customised 22m ocean going vessels. Our vessels feature 40,000 litres of internal holding wells and self-contained filtration systems that allow separate care for large animals and small fish, invertebrates, coral and live rock.
Once on-board, specimens are maintained in individualised and filtered holding facilities to ensure premium condition. Having larger, fully customised vessels enables us to range further and access a diversity of habitats and species while lowering the impact of collecting activities over a large area.
On shore, Cairns Marine maintains a highly capitalised operation based around a state-of-the-art holding and husbandry facility that allows us to house many species in commercial quantities with the requisite measure of individual care.
Our animals arrive at our on-shore our holding facility in pristine condition from the sea whereupon they are kept in premium water quality from a world-class filtration system. Thereafter the animals are cared for by our team, which includes a large animal curatorial specialist, marine biologists, aquaculture technicians, a parasitologist and a freight specialist.
Decades of large animal husbandry and handling experience means Cairns Marine can not only deliver the largest specimens in premium condition but also support our clients with comprehensive after sales service. With Marine Aquarium Council certification and World Association of Zoos and Aquariums membership, Cairns Marine guarantees our customers a completely ethical and sustainable chain of custody solution.
